Clear, searchable website for a fisheries advocacy nonprofit
A mobile-friendly redesign that organizes a growing resource library and strengthens access to critical information.
Project Overview
I worked with the Association for Professional Observers (APO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening fisheries observer programs through advocacy and education. Their existing website needed a fresh, mobile-friendly redesign that would make their growing library of resources easier to search, manage, and update.
Professional observers work alongside commercial fishermen in one of the most dangerous industries in the world, collecting vital biological data used to guide sustainable fisheries management. APO plays an important role in supporting these observers and promoting transparency, safety, and data integrity.
My Role
Website Design (part of collaborative team)
Improving Structure & Searchability
The redesign focused on creating a clearer layout, stronger navigation, and improved document organization so members and stakeholders could easily find policies, educational materials, and advocacy resources.
Mobile-Friendly & Easier to Manage
The new site is responsive, streamlined, and built to grow with their expanding resource library — making it easier for the organization to maintain and update content over time.
Impact
This was a fascinating and meaningful project to work on. The final result is significantly clearer, easier to navigate, and better aligned with APO’s mission of supporting observers and promoting sustainable fisheries management.
